Sherae’s Style & Smile Returns for a Second Year to Empower Foster Teens

Jackson County initiative seeks sponsors to support foster youth before the new school year

After a successful inaugural year, Sherae’s Style & Smile is back—bigger, brighter, and ready to support even more foster teens across the Kansas City Metro with a one-of-a-kind back-to-school shopping experience.

Founded by Emmy-winning journalist and former foster teen Sherae Honeycutt, this initiative gives local youth in foster care the opportunity to shop for new clothes and shoes with dignity and independence—helping them step into the school year with confidence.

Last year, Honeycutt donated $10,000 for Sherae’s Style & Smile and outfitted 50 teens with $200 shopping experiences each.

“This is about more than clothing. It’s about giving foster teens a moment to feel seen, celebrated, and confident on their own terms,” said Sherae Honeycutt. “We’re creating a joyful memory that stays with them far beyond the first day of school.”

💛 Calling All Sponsors

The 2025 event is seeking community sponsors, corporate partners, and individual donors to help reach this year’s goal: serving at least 75 foster teens with $200 each for clothing and back-to-school essentials.

All donations are processed securely through FosterAdopt Connect, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supporting foster families throughout Missouri and Kansas. Contributions are tax-deductible.
